The Camel Reproduction Centre (CRC) founded by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, studies all aspects of reproduction in camels.
Dr Lulu Skidmore leads the team of scientists and the work of the CRC covers both research and client services.
Research:
The pioneering research of the CRC has covered many topics including ovarian follicular dynamics, pregnancy and placentation, endocrinology throughout the cycle and pregnancy, maternal recognition of pregnancy, embryology and semen collection and analysis. There has been particular emphasis on embryo transfer, management of recipients and bisection, cooling and deep freezing of camel embryos as well as semen collection and analysis and artificial insemination.
Dr Clara Malo joined the team in 2013 as Head of Andrology to further the studies on semen preparation and analysis with particular emphasis on semen freezing and developing IVF systems to predict male fertility.
Dr Muren Herrid joined the staff in 2015 as Head of Cell Culture to develop cell and tissue culture techniques.
Dr Elizabeth Crichton is a visiting scientist and collaborator who spends 3 months a year at the CRC looking at different treatments for spermatozoa to aid post thaw viability and fertility.

* Embryo transfer to clients with high quality female camels
* Semen collection and analyses for male camels
