Dr. J.A. (Lulu) Skidmore
Scientific Director

Dr Skidmore graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science, (Wye College, University of London, UK. 1985), before spending five years at the Equine Fertility Unit in Cambridge, as a research assistant specializing in equine reproduction specializing in stallion endocrinology and embryo bisection projects. In 1991 she registered with the University of Cambridge (U.K.) and joined the Camel Reproduction Centre as a post-graduate research student, and successfully completed her PhD, “Reproduction in the dromedary camel,” in 1994 (University of Cambridge, UK). Subsequently, she has remained as Scientific Director of the Camel Reproduction Centre in Dubai, leading a team of scientists covering all aspects of camel reproduction physiology including ovarian dynamics, control of ovarian cycle, endocrinology or non-pregnant and pregnant camels, maternal recognition of pregnancy, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, deep freezing of embryos and spermatozoa and hybridization of New and Old World camelids.

Dr Clara Malo
Senior Scientist (Andrology)

Dr. Clara Malo obtained her degree in Veterinary Science from University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 2005 and her Masters degree in 2006 which focused on Animal Reproduction. She was awarded her PhD entitled “Designing freezing boar semen extenders” in 2009 after which, she was appointed as a faculty fellow in the Department of Reproduction and Obstetrics at Zaragoza University. From 2011 she worked in the Research &Development department in a biotechnology company, where she designed semen extenders for different species and set up an in- vitro fertilization lab. She joined the Camel Reproduction Center in 2013 as Head of Andrology where her research interests are in developing extenders for fresh and frozen sperm, sperm freezing, in -vitro sperm-oocyte interactions and embryology.

Dr Muren Herrid
Senior Scientist (cell culture)

Dr. Muren Herrid completed a Bachelor degree in Animal Science in 1989 and a Master degree in Animal Genetics and Breeding in 1992 from Inner Mongolia Agricultural University. He then worked as a research scientist at Inner Mongolia University for 6 years, focusing on projects of in vitro fertilization, oocytes/embryos cryopreservation and embryos transfer (ET). Muren was awarded a PhD in Reproductive Physiology by the University of New England (UNE), Australia in 2003. Subsequently, He took up a postdoctoral position at the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Manitoba, Canada. In 2004, Dr. Herrid joined CSIRO as a research scientist and worked there for 9 years. In 2015 he joined the Camel Reproduction Center in Dubai, UAE, as Head of Cell Biology to set up tissue culture laboratory and develop slow freezing and vitrification techniques for camel embryos. He is also currently an adjunct lecture at the University of New England and co-supervisors two PhD students.
